Node IV: Textile Architecture for a Flexible Home

Organised by Kristina Fridh, Ulrika Mårtensson, Sergio Montero Bravo and Jonas Ahnmé with guests Sylvie Krüger, Maja Willén and Jyoti Kapur.

Please note: Textile Architecture for a Flexible Home includes Zoom webinars that are open to the public as well as a workshop. The workshop is for students only (16 max) and requires pre-registration.

Problems with open floor plans and privacy, when working from home for longer periods of time, have become of current interest in connection with the pandemic. In the assignment of the workshop, you will design a textile space for work in your home and more specifically for the living room.
These problems have existed before the pandemic and is also found in working environments such as open office landscapes and should be dealt with critical approaches concerning social aspects and work environment issues.

The space that you will design, which also can be several spaces, should meet the requirements for light, sound environment and privacy. Ideas about materials, textile techniques, scale and perception/changeability (light, sound etc) during a day should also be presented. You can choose how you want to present your proposal, for example photomontage, film, drawings, prototype, etc.
The day for the workshop will end in a collective discussion when the proposals will be presented (ca 1,5 hours). The panel includes students as well as Kristina Fridh, Ulrika Mårtensson, Sergio Montero Bravo and Jonas Ahnmé.
