Historically considered the heart of the Swedish home, the fireplace is now\u202fregaining popularity again. This time though, it often comes with a built-in\u202fheating fan, plastic logs and flaming led lights, or sometimes just as a 12\u202fhour long YouTube video. There is an irony to\u00a0<\/span>wh<\/span>at<\/span>\u00a0these fire places tell us about the Swedish home of today<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>he rationalization of\u202fthe home has brought with it a factor of immateriality, a disconnection.\u00a0<\/span>W<\/span>hat remains w<\/span>hen the fireplace’s original\u00a0<\/span>physical properties<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>ar<\/span>e<\/span>\u00a0replaced? A cosy atmosphere and\u202fsomething to gather around<\/span>, maybe<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In<\/span>\u00a0a crisis that has us working from home, being dependent on\u202fmodern technologies, we experience this immateriality in a new way.\u202f<\/span>I<\/span>n such a time of isolation,\u00a0<\/span>there is an imminent\u00a0<\/span>l<\/span>oss of information in the conversion<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>fr<\/span>om\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>3D<\/span>-modelled object<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>ul<\/span>timately\u00a0<\/span>ma<\/span>terial\u00a0<\/span>version<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The gap is reminiscent of\u00a0<\/span>the physical sensation of longing for the touch of your dear ones.<\/span>\u00a0A<\/span>llowing the machine to steer the hand\u00a0<\/span>and approaching the loss of information<\/span>\u00a0has been a method<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>when<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>reflecting on the history of the\u202fSwedish home<\/span>;<\/span>\u00a0its stories, heart and craftmanship.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
